How did that happen? Was it because of bank/financial institution offers? Was it because of credit card discounts? Or was it because they cast a spell or even performed an occult procedure?

Whatever the reason could be, you needn't compare yourselves with others because it is a piece of tech and it will perish after a long and extensive usage.
